When it comes to fabricating large, complex assemblies and components, Elmer Willis is, quite simply, The Man. 

Elmer established Tulsa Combustion’s manufacturing operations, including layout, design and construction, equipment sourcing and purchasing, and recruiting the best fabrication team in the business. He is responsible for developing new methods of vibration casting of dense refractory in very large sections—developments that allow for superior crushing strengths at a fraction of the normal installation time. He also oversaw the purchase and installation of Tulsa Combustion’s large 5 axis water jet and automated welding systems.

Elmer’s resume reads like a Who’s Who of manufacturing experts. His experience includes the fabrication of components and systems for high-temperature environments, including high-temperature alloys and refractory materials; machining to precision levels; and fabrication of large vessels. He also designed several intricate castings for manufacture in alloys, such as K-20, HF alloy, Alloy 800 and Inconell. 

As an innovator in the automation of fabrication, Elmer installed and applied CNC technology early in its development. He designed and constructed numerous automation devices, including automated drilling and welding systems, which dramatically reduce time spent on repetitive welding operations. He also brings significant experience in international sourcing and quality control for internal fabrication, including fabrication in China, where he established quality systems and forged valuable vendor relationships.
